January 2008 It's almost time! By the end of this week, I'll be getting ready to make some passes down the quarter mile in Phoenix. I cannot wait to get there for many reasons. One is a brand new start with a new team. Another reason is the sub zero temperatures here in Indy. The only good thing about the cold, is that it keeps me inside my new house and I get to enjoy it and finish unpacking before heading off to Phoenix. It seems like since the new year, that I have been wide open going here and there, doing this and that. Two weeks ago, I was in Lake Placid, New York for the Bodyne Bobsled challenge. This was a special invite from Geoff Bodine and John Morgan. The list of competitors included: Morgan Lucas, Bob Vandergriff Jr, Phil Burkhart Jr, Jeg Coughlin, Randy Lajoie, Boris Said, Joey Logano, and a handful of other Nascar stars. We were competing on the actual course that the Olympians compete on. This track is noted to be one of the toughest in the world and I found that out the hard way during practice as I ended up on my head. Morgan did a great job once again representing us drag racers as he finished runner-up to Boris Said. I didn't fair so well in the competition but I had a blast doing it. Morgan and Boris have the bobsled deal dialed and if racing doesn't ever work out for them, they definitely stand a shot at trying out for the USA Olympic team. This past weekend, I attended the Mac Tools fair in Orlando. Mac Tools is a great sponsor and they know how to put on a good time while taking care of their drivers and distributors. I once again flew down to Orlando with Morgan. It seems like he and I are going everywhere together now that we are teammates. Fellow blogger Hillary Will, along with my buddy Brandon Bernstein, and a handful of great drivers from NHRA and Nascar attended the fair to sign autographs and meet and greet the distributors. I had a great time and look forward to going back next year. I'm going to spend the next few days unpacking and also packing. I need to get as much done around here as possible due to being on the road for the next 3 weeks. Hopefully we will hit the track running in Phoenix and be well prepared for Pomona. Well that's all for now. Stay warm! J.R.
